How Perth Lives, Builds and Invests

“Perth is more than a place.
It’s a collection of stories,
waiting to be shared.”
About Chronicles of Perth
A love letter
to the west.
Perth, Western Australia—often touted as the most isolated major city in the world—is home to around 2.45 million people. Despite its modest population, it has produced a remarkable array of talent, from Hollywood actors Heath Ledger and Isla Fisher to comedian and songwriter Tim Minchin, author Tim Winton and Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo.
People born and bred in WA continue to make an impact here too: business leaders and philanthropists like Gina Rinehart, artists, journalists, public figures such as Basil Zampilas and countless quiet contributors who help shape the city every day.
For many who live—or have lived—in Perth, it remains a place to forever call home. Maybe it’s the crisp air and crystal clear azure waters of our prestine beaches and the mighty Swan River. Maybe it’s the cloudless sunrises and sunsets that set the horizon ablaze with pink and orange hues where no two days are quite the same. There’s simply something about Perth that makes people fall in love with the city and the vast landscape beyond it.
Chronicles of Perth is an homage to the people—Perthlings—who call the City of Lights home, and a celebration of the journeys they have embarked on to discover their place in the tapestry of Western Australia’s past, present and future.
Through stories of People, Culture and Wealth & Living, we explore not only who makes Perth what it is, but how Perthlings live, create, build, spend, invest and shape their futures—from food, art and local traditions to property, money, business and the choices that define everyday life in Western Australia.
